Monster Phase

Two Dark Elves miss with their crossbows! Two of them wound Dar severely (8 wounds). Another beats upon Scarr's Light Armour to no avail.

Notes about Webquest

I am not sure whether you have been following things in the Webquest forum, but some really exciting stuff has been developing. We are getting ready to add a bunch of objects and more rooms. Cutlass recently added quite a number of monster images. Also, BBCode is now being used in the turn text so that the GM can format text, show pictures, provides links and etc....

I am guessing that you sort of gave up (at least for the time being) with the technical difficulties you were having.

If you tried to install the Graphic Pack and then encountered the difficulties (afterwards), you might try deleting your cookies and trying without using the Graphic Pack. This should work, but it just takes longer for the images to load since they are downloaded from the server instead of being referenced in your Graphic Pack folder.

Bruno is looking at doing some cleanup of accounts that are not being used. Therefore, if you are interested in trying it out, I would recommend that you at least login. The game is set up to show when players last logged in.

One of the newer features is that we can play solo or with less than four players by the use of multiple accounts. For security reasons, the multiple accounts are currently only obtained by having an admin create them (if they will agree). Bruno and Cutlass are the only two admins.

I have some solo games going -- though I often neglect them so that I can keep up with the games where I play with others. Thecustodian is hosting a game where I play all four warriors. This is kind of neat, because I can usually leave orders for all four warriors between the GM's updates to the game.

Webquest


Hey, I just noticed where you logged in to Webquest today. Are you able to see graphics now?

If you are interested, I am willing to create a new game in Webquest and invite you for one of the warrior slots. If you do want to give it a try, you will need to change your Account option called Accept Game Invitations. The default is NOT to allow invitations. You would click on the My Information link, then click on the Manage my account link in order to get to the option to change it to YES. emoticon

It is easier to play as a warrior than it is to GM a game. Usually, you might get a turn once in two to four days for an average game. If the game is moving quickly, you might get activated once in one to two days. Also, when no monsters are on the board, sometimes one to two whole turns can be played in a day -- depending upon how active the players are.

No pressure, I just thought I would mention the invitation option. Currently, no multi- (alter-ego) accounts are being created, until they get worked out how best to manage them.

well, unless elore can jump over shur, he will stay where he is ( i know he cant, just joking). i would love to play on webquest, i was able to see the footprints after loading the graphic pack, i have created a few characters as well, but still have room for a warrior.

There is also a "Beta" patch for the Graphics Pack. There is a link to it on the main page of Webquest when you first login -- it is the Click Here link a bit down the page. This will be needed -- if you haven't already got it -- in order to be able to see all the avatars and other images recently added. Be sure to read the Readme instructions text file.

If there is a certain warrior type you want to play ASAP in Webquest let me know and I will see if I can create a game which would both lend itself to that type of warrior AND appeal to other players. It might be that I could emphasize non-official Warriors ONLY -- if you want to try one of them.

Eventually, if we can get the multi-accounts going again, I might be able to export this forum-based game into Webquest. I often do custom warriors in Webquest for play-testing and fun. emoticon

Game # 106, Old Warrior's Laboratory, is a game where I have customized existing warriors to make them into a Martial Artist, Friendly Giant, Christian Missionary and Changeling. This is now one of my favourite games. It originally began in Webquest (over two years ago), and now it has been moved back to Webquest.

Another possibility: If you ever think that you might want to try out the GM thing. You could invite FOUR of my accounts and I could play all the warriors. I am playing in another game this way and it is kinda strange, but in a cool way. emoticon The Krandor Chronicles (Game # 77) is the one where I play all four warriors.

I would be glad to host a game like this for you as well once the multi-account thing is worked out.

Well, I could start a game anytime you wish to join. All we need is for you to change your invitation option to YES. emoticon

I will plan only to invite you, which means that there would be three open slots for anyone to join. In this scenario, you could just wait to see what others join with, then choose which warrior you want to try to round out the party.

For instance, sometimes games are formed without a healer -- bad news. Sometimes a game is formed with just one weak healer (like the Elf Ranger Mage) and it could use an additional healer as well. At other times, there might be two or three spell-casters/weak melee fighters, and we could then use a fighter type (like the Divine Knight for instance.

The Delete Warrior function that you have available can be useful at times, like when you want to join a game but none of your current warriors are allowed in it. This function is quite useful to me in getting my solo games worked out and in erasing some warriors that I thought to use for play-testing D&D characters. That system just isn't very compatible with Webquest. emoticon

Btw, I really like the idea of the Divine Knight. It seems that the creator of that one decided to make a "holy" version of the Chaos Warrior. It would be interesting to see how he develops over time.

EDIT: I have to rush off to work and do monthly inventory... emoticon I plan to update this game this evening.

Exploring the Old World is the name of the game where I have invited you. I am allowing every type of warrior. Also, I tried to make the game description very inviting to would-be adventurers!

You can see it by clicking on the Play your games link.

You might want to wait to join as I mentioned earlier, but do whatever you wish.... emoticon It could be that if they see you have joined it might encourage others to join.

Monster Phase

Two bolts strike the West wall with great inaccuracy! A Dark Elf's sword takes down the Pit Fighter. This frees the last Dark Elf to take a shot at Shur, wounding him badly (5 wounds, dodge failed).

Time for Elore's ring... Dar's potion again saves his life (5 wounds restored).

Only one more warrior is needed to get the new Webquest game started. We hve a very good healer joining as well -- a High Priest. He can have up to three healing spells and is very good at healing with them (less cost for casting them).

Correction: The game has begun -- we are just waiting on the GM to finish up the preparations.

Yippee! All set to go, but the first corridor is blocked.... emoticon

Back to this game.

Power Phase 5 (roll for Scarr 2)
     Event Phase 1 : the Warriors notice an altar with an idol on it in the corner, where they may pray (submit 1D6) after combat is over.

Say, Bruno just gave all active Webquest players 5 more Warrior slots! You currently can have up to 10 Warriors without even hosting one game. emoticon

As for Scarr... to act out of turn (without his special ability working for him) I require a successful Initiative test (1D6 + Initiative, must be 7+ to succeed). BUT, Dar AND Shur fail to do any harm.... lol

Dar missed twice AND hit once, but the Dark Elf dodged!

I was going to have Dar step in after killing a Dark Elf so that Scarr could get to the enemies if he desired...

Scarr's and Elore's turns... Scarr may still move if he passes an Initiative test (as described above) and if he wants to do so.

Losing that Crossbow sure was a big blow to Scarr's hunting abilities!

nowhere to move to, scarr stays put. elore moves to open space ahead of him for potential healing purposes. suddenly scarr doesnt feel quite as embarrassed about his last turn as before, after seeing what your 2 warriors did, lol

The warriors suffer a bit Elore, Scarr and Dar get wounded. No one is on Zero Wounds, but Dar is close.

Maybe Shur should try to sit out the rest of the combat in favor of meditating...

Change in plans... I will update now. I decided to work on upgrading my other pc instead of going out for breakfast. emoticon

Shur, thanks to Sigmar's blessing, hits and wounds a Dark Elf (2 wounds).

Dar finishes off the same Dark Elf (only hitting once, dodge failed), then steps into that space to allow Scarr an opportunity to attack (if he can pass his initiative test 7+).

EDIT: I should say that Elore can take his turn as well.

In Webquest, many of the players live in Europe and the UK. Their weekend begins some time on Friday (or even sooner for some -- I think some of them might have a four-day work week, though I have never asked that question).

Bruno, the main brain behind Webquest, lives in France and does much of the coding for the game on his long commute back and forth to work. I think he said that he has two hours every work day to kill while commuting.

I once GMed a game with players: one in Australia, one in Belgium (I think), one in California, one in the Uk (I think) and then I am in Indiana. I think that the sun never set on that game -- well at least until the warriors all perished under a hobgoblin ambush... emoticon

Dar falls prey to a deft sword strike. Scarr is then punctured by a mean bolt (3 wounds). Shur repays his opponent by dodging its blow like it dodged Elore's.

uh oh! Remember that the Vest of Honour might save him (50% chance). The dice roll failed, but Shur spent 1 point of Luck to change it to a success! 1 wound restored. emoticon

Worst case scenario, Shur could drink from Dar's Heal-Itt -- though that has a greater chance to run out (draining dry if a 1 or 2 is rolled for wounds restoration).
