Warrior Priest - Ring of Jade and Beginning Blessings Option
I have noticed that some treat the Ring of Jade with much greater flexibility than the Warrior Priest's rules allow. I will usually follow the Warrior Priest's rules as written, but, in some parties, where he is the only healer, I may make some exceptions (to be decided on a per game basis).
Also, the Warrior Priest's advanced rules allows him to replace any of his three beginning blessings with a random blessing from his blessing table. I will try to give the player an opportunity to do so. If I forget, please remind me, because this is not intentional.
In regard to his beginning blessings, I consider Call of the Brave to be a repeat blessing (after a manner). This blessing allows a warrior to re-roll one attack that misses. I reason thus: why would I want to use that blessing, when I can have Vanquish that grants +1 attack, which can potentially cause much more damage to the monsters if both attacks hit? To explain further, a re-roll only increases the likelihood of one attack hitting, while Vanquish actually increases the number of attacks.
Therefore, my own preference is to replace Call of the Brave with another random -- and potentially more useful -- blessing.
Perhaps, I or someone else could provide a new blessing to substitute for Call of the Brave in the blessing table. I may think on this to add it as a house rule for the Warrior Priest.
Having thought more about this and ahving read what someone else has said, I can see the value of Call of the Brave in the area of ballistic weapons. An Elf for instance normally cannot fire his bow (@ BL 1 with no new skills or special bows as treasure items) more than once per turn. Therefore, if the shot is a miss, a second attack could not be used, but with one re-roll, he could re-roll his Ballistic to hit roll.
