posticon The Fate of Bilbo Baggins Webquest Game (October 2008, /March and April 2009 - Recreated again)

Sorry, but for now this game is not open to the players of the Agents of Mordor game. Once we settle on who the four players will be AND which Warrior types they will play, I will create the game with invitations. emoticon

This will be another massive campaign game. The story will be more interactive and fluid than many designed adventures. (see sister game comments at the end)

Possibly this will be a lower priority game, meaning I will update other games first. The reason for this is that I want to be sure to have a high quality game. I think the LOTR's books deserve something more than a random adventure or something just slapped together on the fly. Both of these things could happen if I get too much in a hurry.

I am copying and pasting some of the text here from a previous attempt to get this game going in forum gaming. That game has died for real life interfering and because Webquest has been revived. Things are so much easier to run in Webquest. I look forward to the time when we will be able to add our own custom monsters as well. That will really be fun (Uruk Hai warriors for example).

The original game idea that I had for a four-halfling warrior party, but I will allow other warrior types (besides halflings) as well.

I am going to include links below for both coded Warriors and custom Warriors (not yet coded). Along with those links, I will mention what type of Warrior to use if a Warrior is not yet coded. Also, most of the character types I do not mind if you want to use a name from the actual LOTR's books, but I do mention some NOT to use below. For the Halflings, please do not use the name Bilbo Baggins.

Please keep in mind that I would like to have two Halflings (or more). But, any listed below are acceptable. We need at least one healer too. Please post a reply to this topic if interested in playing and state two or three Warrior types you might want to play in the order of most-desired at the top of the list.

EDIT (28th of March 2009): Since I have Randalf, a Wizard's Apprentice, we probably shouldn't have another Wizard along. Also, Ifearnobear75 will probably be invited with his Halfling Chef. So, another non-chef halfling and then one of the other types of Warriors listed below would be good.

Hafling Chef - Join with Halfling Thief (The Chef is a healer of a sort, but only when mosnters are NOT on the board.)

Halfling Dabbler - Join with a Wizard (they use some of the same spells) Should be able to heal some

Halfling Fieldwarden - Join with a Halfling Thief

Halfling Thief

Dwarf

Dwarf Goldhunter

Elf

Elf Ranger (Knight OR Mage) (Mage can heal)

Ranger (human) (similar to the Way Watcher but not an Elf) Join with an Elf or any non-spell-caster type that might have an avatar to your liking.

The WayWatcher (Elf) (excellent scout and exceptional bow skills). Join with an Elf.

Wizard (but do not name him Gandalf, Sarumen, nor Sauron emoticon) (can usually heal)

The Sister Game(?)

Agents of Mordor have been sent out to find the One Ring. Your party is being sent out to find out what happened to Bilbo Baggins. More details will come in the intro and etc.... Be forewarned though that the Agents of Mordor might end up crossing paths with your party and it might not be a pleasant experience.... One party from Mordor is lead by a Ringwraith (NPC) and consists of an Orc Warrior, A Stone Troll, a Chaos Warrior, and a powerful Necromancer.

These two games will share a common map (only seen by the GM) of Middle Earth. This could get interesting. If the players peak at the sister game, remember that anything your characters do NOT know from the game they cannot find out from their human controller. emoticon

Re: The Fate of Bilbo Baggins Webquest Game (October 2008)

I haven't gotten to see the Dabbler much in action yet. We had a similar game here in the message board, in which there was a Halfling Dabbler, but it barely go off the ground. Poor Bilbo is still unaccounted for after two such games have begun and ended tragically by player absence AND the original Webquest shutdown (over two years ago now). Now, it seems the enemies of the good guys will make things even more "interesting" for our heroes. Mwahahaha!

I really like that character. So, definitely we shall get to see him in this game. emoticon

Also, if someone doesn't volunteer to play the forth Warrior slot soon after Webquest migrates to the new (supre-nice) host/server, then I will likely invite myself to do so. emoticon

So far we have:

Gmcash volunteers to play a Halfling Dabbler

Starfighter as an Elf Waywatcher

Ifearnobeer75 as a Halfling Chef

and no forth volunteer.

I think I would likely play an Elf Ranger Mage OR a Wizard, in order to help with the healing of the party during combat. The Chef is good at healing (sort of) during non-combat turns.

Hmmm... I am already trying to think of a Middle-Earth type of name for a human Wizard (and a secret bio to reveal by hints and pieces....).

Gandalf will be in the game, but he will be an NPC. The other game, Agents of Mordor, has a Ringwraith as an NPC giving powerful guidance to that party. See the Agents of Mordor game in Webquest for more info if desired: game # 126.

I will need to remind all players of both games that we should use private forum topics (like a secondary chat perhaps) for discussing strategy and other secret things. Wow! I am really liking this game versus game type of thing. At some point(s) in the games they will certainly overlap -- in which, they will share the same map layout and have some opportunity to do things to each other -- like share a Halfling Chef's meal perhaps. emoticon

Re: The Fate of Bilbo Baggins Webquest Game (October 2008)

Okay, I am going to start the game with the above three slots invited plus myself as TheController ID.

TheController has joined with Randalf.

Randalf is a Wizard's Apprentice. He is a Wizard, but not as strong in magic as the original Wizard. Also, he is a bit better at physical things like non-magical combat. emoticon

Things to change on Randalf after the game begins

Wounds +1 (based upon his starting stats)
Replace the Attack spell with Ogre Strength, keep Healing Hands, and delete the defence spell -- all Per initial Spell Selection rules.

Randalf has obtained a spell book from Gandalf. He doesn't seem to be able to memorize them, but if he concentrates and reads from the Spell Book, he may cast those spells as long as he does nothing else in that turn.

The Spell Book contains three spells:
Cure Small Wounds
Finger of Life
Acid Blast

Change stored power (Power Tokens) to 2, based upon a 1D3 roll -- translated from the Webquest 1D6 roll.

Randalf begins also with one skill rolled on his skills table. I rolled 32 (on D66) and he gets:

Killing Blow
Does +1D6 wounds on a to hit roll of 6.

Also, delete the Hand of Death Scroll.

I have added this list of things to Randalf's bio, just in case something crashes... emoticon

The Fate of Bilbo Baggins Webquest Game (October 2008, then March and April 2009 - Recreated again)

Due to two players be mostly absent, I am ending this game in Webquest and recreating it.

It is not required, but it might be good to reply here to tell me what type of Warrior you would like to play.

Regardless, the game will be recreated, likely with a Halfling Chef (played by Ifearnobear75, a Wizard's Apprentice (played by my alter-ego). We need two more Warriors to join the party.

I will used the game Warrior restrictions to show what types will be allowed/disallowed. Also, I have listed the Warrior types (with links to their rules) in the beginning post of this topic.

Hmmm... A Halfling Dabbler would be fun to have along...
