posticon EDITED SUBJECT: Sorry, I am not hosting WHQ forum-based games any longer.

I will try to get back into the games more. I have been so scattered lately. I have been trying to get into the writing of a serious novel. emoticon

Also, there might be some good news about a way to play Warhammer Quest more easily and quickly (but still a PBEM type game) than I am able to do here.

Stay tuned to emails from Old Warrior concerning this.

EDIT (and UPDATE to this post): VERY VERY SOON... Old Warrior is going to be purging some games from this forum. I just have way too much going on right now.

Also, I have decided to experiment with creating a hybrid/modified version of Dungeon Bash. If anyone is interested in the Dungeon Bash project, please visit the message board dedicated to it and post that you are interested in the only public forum there. Currently, please only "apply" if you do not care that most things are still "up in the air".

Old Warrior's Dungeon Bash Gaming Group

I will be very selective concerning who will be allowed to join, because of copyright limiting the number of players per set of rules AND because this modified game will NOT be RP-heavy - meaning that I intend to avoid a lot of the deeper aspects of the D20 system, aiming more at a game that is similar in many respects to WHQ, though still quite differnet. Anyone who will likely be absent from the game/forum for days at a time should NOT apply.

Re: Updating the Games and Nudging Warriors

I am going to try to do some nudging today. However, I am getting really concerned that some players might not be coming back...

SpinningDice posted last on May 26, 2008

Starfighter posted last on June 26, 2008

Aecrylis posted last on June 27 2008

These three players used to be some of the very most active players.

I have no way to contact Aecrylis and Starfighter, because they almost never read emails sent to the addresses they used to register with Runboard.

Since there is something in the works whereby I might be able to manage many games more quickly, I am thinking of setting a deadline for these players to get back into the games. For now, I will give them until August 15th, 2008. Then I will need to make some changes -- like adopting out and/or replacing some existing warriors. For warriors that have existed for a long time, I think I will save their data and have them replaced. In some cases, an entire game may be placed on hold in favor of starting a new game.

I will be needing the players' input concerning some changes in the near future. I will most likely be trimming many games down to only four warriors. Then I would possibly create another game or two, so that the players could either take their "extra" warriors into a new game OR create a brand new warrior instead. Also, games with players controlling more than one warrior will need to be changed -- unless I continue them in the current format.

Many games may be moving to another format (apart from this forum type of play). Stay tuned so you don't miss the boat. emoticon Probably some of the games will still need to stay here, but we shall see.

Re: Updating the Games and Nudging Warriors AND CHANGES COMING

ahh maybe they have exams or something?
i know sometimes either my connection gets flakey or i have alot of work to do, but i think maybe it might be good to carry on with the adoption mode (even if only temporary after a deadline), rather then make new games, so that we have a chance to actually finish the one(s) in progress.

otherwise we'll add to the historical musicians, and end up with more "Brettonians Unfinished Sypmphonies" emoticon

That is probably good advice except for a project that I am involved in which will prevent having five warriors in a game -- unless I play an NPC as a fifth warrior myself and keep his stats and etc. elsewhere.

Only about two weeks left for the missing players. Any missing players reading this? I am very sorry, but we will have to close down some of the games soon. Please see each game as I add comments in the near future in the chat topics.

NINE DAYS for missing players to return and tell me how sorry they are... just kidding....

But, it is NINE DAYS until I really get serious in the matter of hiding and deleting inactive games. Games which have one or two players that would like to continue playing may have another option. Send me an Online PM or an email if you want to know the other option.

This is Old Warrior using another one of my Runboard IDs to test my security. emoticon

Anyway, if you are in some of the games here and do not currently see them in the board's home page (forum list page), then you are probably not logged in. I have set the security on many of the game forums so that they no longer clutter up the board, since they have been dead for so long and many of the games will soon be ended and/or made into archived forums for my player's and GM's reference only.

Re: Updating the Games and Nudging Warriors AND CHANGES COMING

Some game forums are being deleted. Sorry guys, but I just really need to clean up my message board. I will still wait on some of the games to see what happens...

I think I will make one Forum called Back Up Forum so that I can save some topics (like warrior character topics and one formatted Turn text for some games).

The Backup Forum will only be accessible to an admin of this message board.

EDIT: I am making most game forums inaccessible to those not playing in them. This will give my messge board a much more tidy appearance. Showcasing the games here is no longer a priority, since the emphasis of my message board has changed.

Re: Updating the Games and Nudging Warriors AND CHANGES COMING

I am now officially ending most of my forum games. Most of the data is being moved to my Backup Forum.

Currently, I am working on a Dungeon Bash project where the games will be run much like WHQ games were run here. However, Dungeon Bash will be limited to only a very few players -- for copyright reasons, and will be played under strict security. Only players will be able to even see the games in progress. The number of games there will also be limited to the amount of time I have to run them. Dungeon Bash (using D&D 4.0 rules) will be a bit more complicated from the vary beginning compared to WHQ.

My Dungeon Bash project is still under construction. I need to do a lot of graphics before the first game even gets started.

Here is a link to the message board dedicated to that project: Old Warrior's Dungeon Bash Gaming Group

The Novel Idea

Not much progress on the novel yet... but some ideas are coming into focus.

It is a fantasy story set in the distant future, but no one will know that futuristic aspect until probably at least the second or third novel in the series (if I get anything published). Magic is the supreme power and non-magical technology is a little known thing buried somewhere in the past.

There is a world that is dominated by females. It has a Supreme Matriarch. It is thought and much taught that females do NOT love males. In fact, the temples teach, and even have "Scriptures" which "prove it", that the "Three Worlds" and all that exists were created by the One Goddess. I haven't a name for the goddess yet.

Females are the only ones that can use magic. For some reason, men just do not show any ability in this regard. (And, here is a subplot: Why and how did it come to be that men have no magical abilities?)

Meanwhile, Princess Celestria, who is the Supreme Matriarch's daughter, has fallen in love with her man (Meiger is my original idea for a name, pronounced like meager). Her man is a very adventurous and talented fighter. He loves adventure so much, that Celestria is often having to go and rescue him with her magic. Celestria fears discovery, but her love for him causes her to fail to avoid embarrassing situations.

The worst part is that Meiger goes off and tries some things that are illegal.

Add into the mix that there is a well-organized group of power mages, The Sisters of Tradition, who are sort of above the law and are basically the enforcement arm of the One Goddess' religion. They are not beyond "purging" of heresy even the highest authorities in the world. If they ever discover that Celestria is "in love" (and I will make sure they do emoticon), then she and her man will be in a world of trouble.

This brings us to the ultimate, big plot of the novel, which is embodied in the title: The Chronicles of Andoria: Escape from Andoria. I haven't decided yet which would be best Andoria or Andorius, for the name of this first of three inhabitable worlds in this distant solar system.

Well... actually, I have encountered some "blind faith" in religious traditions which seems often to cause those who are supposed to be "full of the love" to be caustic, judgmental, enreasonable and etc.... emoticon So, some of my experiences in the realm of religious activities probably figures into the story a little.

Some of the seed thoughts are based more upon of church/religion history, where often religious zealots went on crusades and held inquisitions to punish and purge the heretics and infidels. I think the Sisters of Tradition are sort of like the Witch Hunters of WHQ.

The female-domination thing I find to be interesting as an alternative/fantasy society where the women's lib type of scenario goes clear to the other extreme. This story is sort of a mild alegorical representation of my concept of what happens when the females become very domineering and unsatisfied with some sort of "equal" status with men and wish to "make men pay" for the past inequities... well something like that anyway -- sort of a reversed gender-based discrimination thing.

You should see the private game where I am currently testing my story with some gamers (I am the GM and play Princess Celestria as well). I am using it as a means to infuse more ideas into my brain concerning the story possibilities. Oh, the game is called The Andorian Chronicles (The game # for this group is 122).
