Reunion Tour Chat and Orders


I have tried to standardize the format of all my message board games in order to provide a smoother gaming experience and to help myself stay organized and focused.

This Chat & Orders topic is where the GM and the players interact with each other. Most of the time any posting done by the players regarding the game will appear here. Usually only this topic and the Adventure Records and Combat Stats topic are open for players to post. I think this helps to prevent accidental posting where things can become more confusing. I can make things plenty confusing enough without enlisting the help of the players. lol

Therefore, gmcash, this is where you may post your character choices and dice rolls once you begin character creation.

Character Creation

I might as well address this while we are deciding what warriors to use. emoticon

For each warrior, you will need to tell the type of warrior, your character's name, choose an avatar, submit your dice roll for Wounds, and give any desired background info (biographical in nature as a rule, but this is totally optional).

Remember to re-roll your dice for Wounds if it is a 1 the first time -- keeping the second roll even if it is a 1. Dice rolling may be doen in various ways. Please click on the dice image below to see the dice rolling options. If you use a method besides the irony dice server (in which you email me the results), then please be sure to report the actual dice rolls here in your posts.

You may use my Avatar Gallery (notice how I sometimes inset links like this) to choose an avatar, or you may submit an image for me to approve. Most of the avatars I have were what was used in Webquest, but I tried to organize them by what I thought they appeared to be or could pass for....

In some cases, someone might want to use the Monster Gallery to see if any of the images are appropriate, but I doubt you will be interested in those images for this game.

Warrior-Specific Considerations -- I will help to make sure we get all of these covered as needed.

Other variables come into play for many warrior types. For instance, a Wizard or one of the custom mages will need a roll for Stored Power (Power Tokens in the table top version) and some random rolls for beginning spells. Some even get to choose their beginning spells.

Sometimes choices need to be made as to which path a warrior will take, I am thinking especially of the Elf Ranger (Knight or Mage) and the Aes Sedai (Male or Female, and then there are more defining choices under each gender as well).

Some warriors have a variable quantity of potions or blessings or chaotic features (think Chaos Warrioremoticon ).

*The "End Tutorial" thing is jsut a temporary divider so that you can see where the usual game stuff begins.

The Martial Artist is a fairly good healer, but only while not fighting. So, he can do some serious healing in between combats. Sometimes he might refrain from fighting for a turn so that he can try to meditate and provide some mystical healing.

gmcash, is there any type of name you would like to offer for this game? If not I will just make up something -- but will wait to hear from you first. But, whatever its name, I will keep it in the same position (toward the top of the message board). Since it is a secret game the alphabetical organization will not be disrupted for other players. emoticon

I still need to work up the Bounty Hunter details in his topic. Your Warrior Priest info topic is ready.

He still needs a name (if you want to name him), Wounds roll, and your decision as to whether you want to replace one of his blessings. See his topic for more details. You can just click on any of the dinky avatar images which appear in the Game Links to go directly to a warrior's info topic.

Bounty Hunter looks interesting to play, of course you will know all this, but you need to have an Outlaw Event Card for him to work. I can roll up outlaws when that is needed, his first one has these stats
WS:3 BS 3+ ST:4 Dam:1 T:4 W:3 I:3 Att:1 Abil:0
He has a Shield +2T for equipment. His name is Xavier the Weasel. He has committed 7 crimes:
3 counts of Slave Trading, 200 g, 1 wanted point
Smuggling, 50 g, 0 wanted points
Handling stolen goods 75g, 0 wanted points
Spreading dissent, 200 g, 0 wanted points
Sorcery, 500g, 2 wanted points

I need to give the Bounty Huinter's rules a good thorough reading. I have sort of looked through and read portions, but have never played him or GMed a game with him yet. emoticon

Though I usually use this Event Deck software (uses Java) to generate random events for all the games I GM, I think it may reliably give us the Outlaw Event Card as well. I have created two entries in files that this software uses. The following Event Deck illustration is the result whenever the program turns up the Outlaw Event Card.

You will notice that I forgot to put the Wanted Points in the Outlaw Card, but that can be added in the Special Rules section. Also, I just tallied the gold amounts for a grand total to appear in the Gold amount in the lower left corner. I didn't verify your method yet. That seems an awfully valuable bounty. emoticon

EDIT: If I read the Bounty Hunter rules correctly, the initial Outlaw information is supposed to already be on the Outlaw Event Card -- which I haven't found yet. Nevertheless, even if I do find it, I will let you keep the current bounty/Outlaw info in its place.

I haven't really used these card images before, but it might be nice to use some of them in this game for fun.

Here is the Outlaw Card with the Wanted Points and Xavier the Weasel's name (edit: I later added the criminal's picture as well):

I have noticed that these "cards" show the armour value in parenthesis next to the Toughness. This usually is shown in Warhammer Quest as the total modified Toughness value instead of the amount of the armour by itself -- as the card shows here. We will want to keep that in mind.

Of course, I could alter the number for every armoured monster in the software's database, but I don't think that would be a good use of my time. If I figure out how to change the Java code, now that would be helpful -- just some type of modification -- adding the two numbers together instead of just reporting the armour value... But, I am not a programmer or developer. lol I just piddle around until I find something that works for me.

The Bounty Hunter -- a Few Details...


I think we only need the Bounty Hunter's Wounds (1D6+8) rolled and Iron Rations rolled (1d6+2).

Note concerning the Bounty Hunter's beginning weapon:

Usually, warriors begin with a melee weapon, but in this case no melee weapon is specified. Since by the normal rules, most missile weapons cannot be fired while the warrior is pinnned by one or more monsters, we have a problem.

I will assume that the creator(s) of the Bounty Hunter intended that he have a common sword. So, I am adding that to his info topic.

EDIT: Also, I see no strength listed for the Repeating Crossbow. I will assume it is better than the Pistol Crossbow (str 3) listed in the RolePlay Book. Also, The Repeater Crossbow that some Outlaws may have has a strength of 4, even though they fire two times each turn instead of three times every other turn. So, unless you find it somewhere, I am assuming strength 4 for the Repeating Crossbow.

Oh, there is one more issue to resolve about the Repeating Crossbow. Each three shots are treated like only one shot from what I am reading in his rules. This seems strange in that we need to decide whether he can target more than one enemy in the same turn with his three "shots". I will go with YES, he may shoot at whichever target he wishes with each of the three shots, because they are not all fired simultaneously -- just very quickly one after the other. This also means that he must roll to hit based upon his Balistic Skill for each of the three shots.

It is fine to use the Bounty Hunter. I have custom warriors that have similar problems. I just modify things as I go to make them more playable. emoticon

Edit note: sometimes my spelling in these posts becomes attrocious. Unless I substantially change something, it is usually safe to assume that my edit of a post is just a spelling/grammar correction. Of course, Turn Texts, Character Info topics, and Adventure Records and such like are always getting edited as updates to the games. Many times when I substantially edit a post, I will add an "Edit" notation -- like the three examples below.

EDIT:
The little arrow is missing. emoticon This is a drawback for changing number of posts per page from 12 to 30. Once we have 31 posts in this chat topic the little arrow link will appear so that you can navigate quickly to the most recent post in this topic, rather than having to pagedown to get to it. The arrow will appear in the "Last Post" column in the Topic page view for this game.

EDIT 2: These rations will be treated just like provisions as to when they may be consumed (not while on ZERO Wounds) and how someone may try to save an "unconscious" warrior with them (each attempt by an adjacent warrior to revive his fallen comrade requires a 4+ on a 1D6 -- 1-3 is a waste of the ration, 4+ restores the 2 wounds just like when a warrior consumes one on his own).

OW EDIT -- This type of edit I add sometimes when I directly edit another player's post. OW is short for Old Warrior throughout this message board. Usually, I use this type of edit to modifiy or to interpret a player's orders in games where we have more than two of us playing. I think it sometimes helps to minimize confusion.

EDIT: I find it interesting that in several of my online games the warriors are either in the Objectve Room, near the Objective Room, or are in a city getting training and etc.... emoticon

Even though I am still working on the master map for this adventure, I have enough done for us to begin. Since Elore is the closest thing we have to a magic user, He gets the Shard containing the 1D6+2 Power Points. Elore should roll this dice ASAP. emoticon

Now, we begin with Shur Hittem's Turn. To help you along, Gary, I am going to try to leave my warriors' orders here as an exmaple of how to do it and to help you keep track of what is going on.

Shur Hittem, the Martial Artist takes three steps East, one step SE, and then he prepares to explore at the door.

Now it is Scarr's turn.

I will try to remember to roll 1D6 at the beginning of each turn. Then, if a 5 or 6 is rolled, I will let you decide in what order you would like Scarr to act. You are welcome to postpone that decision until after Shur's turn if you like.

We might need some type of standing order such as: Scarr will never act out of turn unless there are enemies on the board. But, let me know what you think.

Oh, please let me know whether you can see the tool-tips on the html map. If you click on the Zoom Map or the Mini-Map, this should take you to the html map. Also, please let me know if any of the tool-tip info or character sheets seem incorrect in any way.

Elore moves 4 straight ahead so that he is in the middle and behind the other characters. As he does so, he is shaking his head and muttering about the young folk these days and nobody seems to wear any clothes any more, all bare-chested and trying to show off their muscles.

Remember that the Warrior Priest rolls 1D6 and adds the result to the current Power from the Power Phase. If the result is 7+, then the blessing succeeds.

This is off the top of my head (for the moment), but I am pretty sure that the Warrior Priest can use some treasures/devices which store power. Since he does not use power like the Wizard does, but rather has a chance of success for his blessings -- which works very much the same as the Elf Ranger Mage's chance casting of spells -- the Warrior Priest is allowed to use one point of stored power in such a device to add to the chance of successfully blessing himself or another warrior. For each point of power expended he may add a +1 modifier to his dice roll for a successful blessing.

Also, I think I added a note to this effect under the Shard of Power in Elore's topic.

Oops! I just noticed -- while verifying the above information in the WP's rules -- that I somehow got the Warrior Priest's Blessings mixed up. I had all the three blessings' effects listed under the wrong blessing name.... that is 100% mixed up. Anyway, I corrected them I hope.

I must get ready to work early this morning (6 a.m.) after working until 9 p.m. last night.

Back to the game. emoticon

Currently, I need to create the next board section in my html table format. I thought you might like to know a little about how this is done. I take the original board section image and resize it so that each square can be 65x65 pixels. Then I copy and paste each square -- making a new image of just the square. Once I have created all the necessary square images for the board section, I upload those images to the appropriate folder on the web. Then I set each cell's background image to show the proper square. Of course, I also need to make each cell and the whole table to conform to the 65x65 pixels. Then I just add the door image at the appointed location. Finally, I move and/or insert any needed warrior or monster images, I save the game map html file, and then upload it to the game's folder.

I am also working on saving each board section in its own little html table file so that I can copy and paste the whole board section in other games and adventures. Once I get all this slow work done, I think the games will all be easier and quicker to update. This is why I created the Monster Image Gallery. All I have to do to place new monsters right now is to directly copy and paste the images found in that gallery and all the monster stats come with them. emoticon

scarr moves 1 northwest to end up behind shur, He has a hunch that something is gonna happen here and wants to be mobile. He likes to follow his hunches, they are usually right.
