Re: Chat and Orders -- AND Game Info
Also, Stubeard, if you want the option to choose one of the monster orc images you may go to the Monster Image Gallery and check the orc section. Both the Avatar Gallery and the Monster Image Gallery are found in the Jump menu at the top of any of this board's pages.

Special Fear Versus Fear Rule
For warriors and monsters (enemies) who cause Fear or Terror: Any model (warrior or enemy) which causes Fear or Terror is never afraid or Terrified of another of the same or lesser rating. For instance the Ringwraith currently would NOT Fear another Ringwraith (of the same level) NOR would he fear a Minotaur (Fear 5). The Minotaur on the other hand would have to roll to see if it was afraid of the Ringwraith (Fear 7).
Any model that causes Terror is NEVER afraid of those that cause fear AND would only be afraid (-1 to hit instead of -2) if it failed the Terror test of one that has a higher Terror rating.
The above application of the Fear/Terror special rules does not take into account other Special Rules such as the Ringwraith's Elf Shy rule.

Re: Chat and Orders -- AND Game Info
Stone troll name: Growl.
Whether Growl obtained this name from the growling of it's stomach or from the growls it makes when speaking, not even Growl could answer that one. Assuming the troll ever understood the question.
Fortunately, one doesn't need to be too bright to hit stuff. Something Growl enjoys doing quite a bit.

Here are some orc images I found by searching the Net....
Let me know Stubeard if you want to use one of these. You may still choose from the Monster Image Gallery or any image in the Avatar Gallery that you think might work.

Re: Chat and Orders -- AND Game Info
For the most part I believe I have the warrior info topics completed. Please let me know if anything is incorrect. Also, feel free to make suggestions in the Warrior Classes topic for any changes and/or for the advanced rules on any of the warrior types for this game.
EDIT: I will soon add the Game Links everywhere I usually put them. I only need Gnishank's avatar to complete the warriors' beginning stuff.

Spies in Isengard: Mission to Exterminate
The game begins near Isengard. Read on for some details...
Let me know if anything seems incorrect in the Turn Text or in the Warrior topics.
Stubeard, see Previous Page for some orc images I found and instructions for choosing from the Monster Image Gallery or from the Avatar Gallery.
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
The Agents of Mordor
Chapter One: Spies in Isengard
Mission: Rid Isengard of whomever or whatever has been pilfering the supplies of Saruman's Uruk Hai forces.
Special Extermination Mission near Saruman's tower, Isengard.
You have been sent by the Mouth of Sauron to spy upon the wizard of the tower and his troops. But, in order to effectively spy on him, you must gain his underlings' trust -- what little of that can be found here. Girstack, one of the Uruk Hai commanders has given you an unpleasant task of ridding the storage buildings and tunnels of the vermin that have been pilfering the troops supplies.
No one knows how important you are to Sauron's cause. This must remain a secret for now, lest Saruman suspect treachery. Though this be a demeaning task -- not worthy of your skills as Agents of Mordor, it is best that you bear the indignity patiently, lest you incur the wrath of Sauron for failing in your current mission for the Dark Tower.
Note concerning the maps: The pdf map of Middle Earth is the most complete map I think I have ever seen. It is a large file, but it is nice to be able to zoom in and out. The Other map I provide (the simple map) is just to give a colorful overview of Middle Earth. I will try to provide some maps as we go. There is a master map (secret) I will be using to track where everyone and everything is in relation to one another throughout Middle Earth.

Re: Chat and Orders -- AND Game Info
Yes, the Troll can fit through any one-space or wider doorway or passage (even assuming several squares long) as long as he ends his movement where he has two empty squares in which to stand.
EDIT: NOTE - The steps on the maps will at times make some difference in what you can see and where you may walk. For instance, in the current map the party must use the steps to enter the next section (sort of obvious), but the party's view is currently hindered by the bushes and the elevation of the stone pathway leading to the next section.

Sarkus moves into the sheltered NorthEast corner of bushes.

Nothing Yet... & Uruk Hai Monster Stats
Enemy/Monster Phase
No enemies yet... However, the party hears some gruff and loud voices wafting over the bushes from the East.
EDIT:
Here are new monster stats for Uruk Hai based upon the warrior class I already created and compared to other monsters. You will notice that a Uruk Hai is worth much more and is quite a bit more combat ready than normal orcs. This is due to intensive training combined with Saruman's dark experiments with the cross-breading of strong human warriors and strong orc warriors.
Special Rules
Maces, Battle Axes, and Spears all are based upon the Warhammer Quest descriptions.
Parry 6+ - Only works in melee combat. If successful, the Uruk Hai parries an attack that would have hit him. May be attempted for every incoming melee attack that would hit. (same as RPB special rule)
Furious Charge 5+ - (new) - In the first Monster Phase after the warriors take their turns, roll 1D6 for the whole group of surviving Uruk Hai. On 5+, they each get +1 Attack for this turn only.
Skilled Combatant - (new) - In melee combat, whenever the Uruk Hai rolls a 6 to hit, his strength is augmented possibly causing extra damage with +2 Strength on 6 to hit in melee. This benefit is in addition to any weapon modifiers.
Note on gold: for this game, of course, most gold will be given as experience (shared among the warriors).
Ah, here's a better image for the Uruk Hai. At least two more images to come I think.
Anticipated Questions
If their Furious Charge rule is in effect, can the Uruk Hai do two attacks while fighting in ranks with their spears?
YES (but, a single Uruk Hai can only attack a single warrior -- as usual for non-LARGE monsters )
Which weapons will the Uruk Hai prefer to use, since they are armed with either Mace/Spear OR Battle Axe/Spear?
The Uruk Hai will prefer to fight in close, where they can do the most damage, but they will use their spears whenever others stand in their way, or if they cannot quite move far enough to attack their enemies in close.
Will the Uruk Hai ever throw their spears? If so, then with what BS and Strength?
Since this is a GM-guided game with a possibly complex storyline, it is entirely possible that the Uruk Hai would at times throw their spears. This would most likely only happen when certain of their number feel that by this means only could they attack their enemies.
If and when they throw their spears: BS = their BS (unlike the Spear in the Weaponsmith's shop), Strength as thrower (DL 1 = Str 4 then), AND, they could not recover their spears until the combat is over (just like when a warrior throws his spear).
Will Uruk Hai ever be armed with swords?
Possibly. I haven't decided for sure yet. But, if they have swords instead of Maces or Battle Axes they may be worth a little less when killed.
I have started a new topic in which I will be posting the information on various monsters/enemies which are not found in the WHQ RPB (or are not the same for this game). LOTR-Specific "Beastiary"

Re: Chat and Orders -- AND Game Info
Since Eric is Ethereal, I will allow him to move straight East, but everyone else will need to follow the path of the steps unless they would like to jump off the top of the steps and take an initiative test to see how well they do....
As soon as Eric glides out into the garden, he sees two Uruk Hai with maces guarding the entrance to the supply tunnels. Also, he hears them loudly discussing something...
quote: If them orcs of Mordor think they can steal our hard-earned grub, they's gonna pay with their hides!
quote: If we go to help our Uruks, the master, Saruman, will have our hides if someone gets into the tunnels while we're gone!
quote: Rules, rules, rules! The dark lord has them and the White wizard has his too!... What?...
The Uruk Hai guards then look up to see Eric floating into the garden and their speech abruptly halts. Just in case it matters, the Uruk Hai were able to overcome the FEAR of the Ringwraith! (rolled a 6)
Also, Eric was able to see from the top of the stairs that there is another open area to the East. There are indistinct yells heard from that direction.
(waiting now for the rest of the party to come on over... )

Yes, everyone except Eric (ethreal) must "obey" the stairs on the map. I decided to make an exception for him this time.

ah never noticed those stairs when i said the movement,
i'll take the Ethereal ability is related to attacks only not movement as it would'nt make sense with the cloak / weapon etc, oh and a small question - how does armour work for me? (sorry for long message)

Re: Chat and Orders -- AND Game Info
lol, feno12, if that message was long, then many of my messages here are super-long.
Actually, here is the RPB quote for the ethereal special rule: quote: Some Monsters, such as Wights, are insubstantial, Ethereal beings. Such Monsters can never be pinned, and may move freely through other Monsters and obstacles as if they weren't there. In addition, when making an attack with a non-magical weapon against such a creature, your Warrior's to hit rolls are reduced by n. where n is the number after the Ethereal entry. Attacks with magic weapons are made as normal.
Above Wights should be Wraith. It seems that a lot of people continue to get them mixed up -- even the creators of this game.
The part in bold especially applies to the ethereal being's ability to move about. I had even forgotten the part about moving through "obstacles". So, my allowing the Ringwraith to move through the stairway is not entirely out of order.
I am still trying to think through the armour rule for the Ringwraith. But, so far I think that he should be allowed to wear at least some armour while assuming a physical appearance.

I'll probably try jumping off the stairs when I get the chance.

A Challenge Orcs of Mordor Versus Uruk Hai
One of the Uruk Hai speaks to Eric quote: I heard from my captain that you would be coming to help with our supply problems. But, right now our captain has the key and it sounds like he is having some trouble to the East...
Just then the warriors hear what sounds like a battle getting ready to begin. Sarkus and Gnishank can see Orcs from Mordor lined up on one side and Uruk Hai on the other. One really big Uruk must be the captain. The Orcs from Mordor have a boss with them as well.
What will the warrior party do? 1. Stand back and wait..., 2. Help the Orcs against the Uruk Hai, or 3. Help the Uruks against the Orcs.
Turn #3 will begin after the decision is made, because this could affect any Unexpected Events....
EDIT:
The Orc Boss has Blade of the Damned - This blade causes double damage every time it strikes. (Roll the normal amount of damage, multiply the result by 2 and then add the wielder's Str.)
The Uruk Captain has Sword of Pain - This sword ignores any non-magical armour and up to 3 points of magical armour when determining damage.
Four of the Orcs have Bows Str 3, but otherwise have the same stats as the other Orcs.
