The Expanded Chaos Warrior

For the last couple of weeks I've been in a bit of a random project to expand the Chaos Gifts/Mutations table to using a d666 (it sounds better) and while I can spout of bizzarre & random mutations pretty well I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions...

Re: The Expanded Chaos Warrior

you might remember the Black Spiral Temple?
The Chaos gifts I divised for it are still available on the warhammerquest forum Chaos curses.
The Slaanesh one is missing though.

I found my inspiration for them on the following website:
Dungeon Conquest Website

Its a WHQ spinoff where evil overlords invade each others domains. Sounds fun but I never tested it.

Hope this helps.

Re: The Expanded Chaos Warrior

I would be glad to share some of my ideas -- if and when they come. I have thought that it might be nice for the Chaos Warrior to have even more chaotic possibilities.

Also, I am thinking that this might make the combination of Artefects process a bit more interesting....

Feel free to use, modify or ignore anything I suggest. emoticon

Here is an Attribute suggestion:

The Putrifaction of Battle -- Whenever the Chaso Warrior's life begins to seep away in battle, his body begins to show decay and to ooze gutt-wrenching putrifaction (puss, infection, slime, and such like). In the midst of battle these less than wholesome oozings have a corrosive effect upon anyone that they may touch.

At the end of each turn during combat in which the Chaos Warrior is at less than 50% of his Starting Wounds, roll 1D6 for each adjacent model (friend or foe). On 4+ that model suffers 1 wound not modified for anything (toughness, armour, ignore wounds, and etc., though dodging or evading is allowed).

~ ~ ~ ~

AND, here is an Artefact suggestion:

Petrified Chaos Shield -- This shield has been to and back again from a place from which no normal shield would likely ever be retrieved -- a lodging place of gorgons! It has a very strange stony feel to its outer surface AND it has a very shiny inside surface that might be useful in turning back the petrifying gaze of some monsters.

It grants +1 T and a certain amount of protection from the petrify attack of gorgons and c o c k a t r i c e. Whenever the Chaos Warrior holding this shield (must be equipped) is faced with an active petrifying gaze (meaning whenever dice must be rolled for damage from a petrify attack and that he must suffer a -1 to movement the rest of the adventure), roll 1D6. On 5+, the petrify attack has been turned back upon the monster, which then suffers the same effects that the Chaos Warrior would have suffered. The Chaos Warrior thus avoids taking damage and loses no movement.

Re: The Expanded Chaos Warrior

Attribute

I replced Dungeon Level with the CW's Battle Level in all these spells. In my most recent edit of this post, I changed the word Sorcerer to Chaos Warrior throughout the text.

Chaotic Sorcery --
The dark gods of chaos have granted the Chaos Warrior the knowledge of Chaos Magic. He comes away from the Chaos Temple having the knowledge required to cast a Chaos Spell!

From now on, once per turn, the Chaos Warrior may sacrifice one attack in order to attempt to cast a Chaos Spell that he has learned (only one learned each time he gains this Attribute). If this attribute is gained any more times after the first, he not only gains knowledge of a new spell, but will no longer have to sacrifice one attack unless he wants to attempt more than one spell in a turn. He would then need to sacrifice one attack per additional spell attempt (beyond the first).

The way it works: very much like the Elf Ranger Mage's magic. It is a chance casting based upon the power roll. Roll 1d6 each time he attempts to cast a spell. If the total of the dice roll + the current power (POW) is 7+ then the spell succeeeds. On 6 or less, or on a roll of 1, the spell fails.

(roll once on the following table for each time that the Chaos Warrior gets this attribute)

Roll 2D6 to discover which spell the Chaos Warrior learns.

2-4, Battle Lust The Chaos Warrior gives extra (1 x the Chaos Warrior's Battle Level) Attacks to himself and his allies in combat this turn, distributed as evenly as possible.

5, Doombolt A bolt of black fire bursts from the Chaos Warrior's palm towards one his enemies. The Doombolt inflicts (2 x the Chaos Warrior's Battle Level) Wounds, with no modifiers for Toughness or armour.

6, Hand of Dust The Chaos Warrior may attack any single adjacent monster. Roll 1D6 for the chosen target and add his Strength to the score. Roll 2D6 for the Sorcerer and add his Strength to the score. The highest score wins. If the target wins the spell fails. If the Chaos Warrior wins the target suffers (2 x the Chaos Warrior's Batle Level) Wounds with no modifiers for Toughness or armour. This spell may only be cast against an adjacent target.

7, Blade Wind The Chaos Warrior summons a storm of slashing blades. The target (any single model in LOS) suffers (the Dungeon level) D6 Wounds, modified for Toughness and armour as usual.

8, Soul Drain The Chaos Warrior creates a storm of dark magic. Roll 1D6 for each monster adding his Toughness to the score. If the total is equal to or more than the Chaos Warrior's Battle Level he suffers no ill effects from the spell. If the score is less than the Chaos Warrior's Battle Level the monster suffers (1D6 + the Chaos Warrior's Battle Level) Wounds and the Chaos Warrior gains the same amount. The Chaos Warrior may never gain more Wounds than he started with. Any extra Wounds are lost in the warp.

9, Amizipal's Black Horror A black cloud issues from the Chaos Warrior's mouth, engulfing the monsters in darkness. Roll 1D6 for each monster adding his Strength to the score. If the total is 7 or more he suffers no ill effects from the spell. If the score is 6 or less it suffers (the Chaos Warrior's Battle Level) D6 Wounds, with no modifier for armour.

10, Malediction of Nagash The Sorcerer causes cuts to open up on the body of one of the monsters. For 1 turn that monster is unable to move, fire a missile weapon, and is at -2 to all of his to hit rolls in close combat. Now, and at the start of each subsequent turn, the same monster loses (1 x the Dungeon level) Wounds, with no modifiers for Toughness or armour, until the Chaos Warrior falls to ZERO Wounds (or is somehow instantly killed).

11-12, The Transformation of Kadon. The Chaos Warrior transforms himself into one of the following monsters. Roll 1D6:
1-2 Wyvern
3-4 Chimera
5 Manticore
6 Hydra
If the transformation turns the Chaos Warrior into a Monster of less value than himself (assuming 350 gold times the Chaos Warrior's Battle Level for his value), re-roll the monster type. See the Monsters section of the Bestiary for full details and profiles for these Monsters. The Chaos Warrior remains transformed until either he or all of his opponents are dead. While transformed, he may not cast any more spells or use any other of his Chaos Attributes or Artefacts.

Aha, I'd forgotten about this, I still have files I was working on...
Since I've been playing a lot of tabletop WQ recently it's time to dig this out and start fiddling with tables again...
