posticon Dice Rolling

Okay, guys, (all WQ players in my message board)

You have been very patient and understanding about using the dice rolling server(s) at irony. But, I would now like to try NOT using a dice server for a while to see how it goes.

I had thought it an essential part of playing Warhammer Quest online, that there be a third party/totally random and verifiable means of submitting dice rolls.

What I intend to do is provide a link to a really nice dice roller that you can use on your own computer -- it is copyrighted so that I cannot give it to you here. Also, I plan to provide a link to a simple dice roller that uses Java script -- I provided this before, for when irony was not available.

If anyone has a dice roller other than what I recommend and/or provide, I would like to be able to see it and approve it for use in the games here. Who knows? perhaps I may like it better than what I already use myself. emoticon

Anyone is welcome to continue using irony (with or without sending the results to Old Warrior), or to just use it whenever you think it would be good to send the results to me or to another player. I think, however, that you might find the games easier to play if you do not have to send the dice rolls all the time.

Very Important Note: If we do this, all players must be sure to include all required dice roll results (actual numbers rolled) in their orders -- as you mostly already do. This will ensure that the GM (me usually) is able to help with any errors -- or to contribute to confusion as I am bound to do at times. emoticon

I might set up a poll here in the near future to see how you all vote: to continue or not to continue with the non-server type of dice rolling.

Re: Dice Rolling

Since work keeps blocking various dice rollers, and I tend to reply on here on a lunch time I tend to use the 'simple dice roller' link you sent me or if I can't get to that for any reason I just use Excel's Randbetween command. Your Goods&Goodies roller and Invisible Castle that I've used in the past are both blocked.
If you would ever prefer that I use something verifiable I have no problem with it, but it will slow my posting down somewhat if I can only access from home.

For my game I'm not worrying about it too much - people are free to use whatever roller they want or sit and roll dice at their monitor if preferred.

Re: Dice Rolling

Might I suggest using The Invisible Castle (if its not blocked).
It has an excellent Diceroller with multiple options that can be accessed trough a link. you can even post multiple dicerolls as one for easy reference.
I'm using this in my play by post Earthdawn RPG and am very happy with it.

Use the following URL: http://invisiblecastle.com/

(Sometimes its down though)

The good thing about this diceroller is that you can post your dice results as a link, avoiding the clutter in your mailbox. It's even "tamper proof" if you provide it with a name (your own or your character's).
You can look up old dicerolls as well.

Re: Dice Rolling

Change in the Dice Rolling thing...

Now, when a player clicks on the picture of dice like this one...

Image

...it will take them to a page that looks like the picture below. A player may then click on the type of dice roller he would like to use.

Here is an image of the new page (actually linked to the new Dice Rollers page), Click on it to see the real thing. emoticon I think that I have linked all the important dice images (most used or most visible ones) in the Game Links. Previous pages in Chat/Orders will still have the old irony link instead, but the current ones are ready for use.
