Re: Webquest Gone?

Wow, I just noticed your reply.

Yes, Bruno sent me an email in response to an email I sent him about GW's stance on the Museum. I wrote to him about a very recent post to the Warhammer forum, which anyone may read at the following location:

http://com1.runboard.com/bwarhammerquest.fchronicles.t513

I am afraid Bruno decided to shut everything down.

I think that you and I have already corresponded on this today.

It really is sad. Webquest generally worked so very well.

Anyone interested in carrying on the games please see my recent efforts to keep one game going her in my own message Board under OW Current Games. As soon as I get this one mastered (if the players want to keep going), then I will use it as a format for continuing the others also, but only as the players are willing to continue. I may "put warriors up for adoption" here when not all players are willing to go on without Webquest. This will be more work than Webquest was, so I will limit the number of games I do this way. It will have to be first come first served and first Gmed first translated into this new method of playing.

Also, please see my topic on this subject in the Warhammer Quest Online Forum:

http://com1.runboard.com/bwarhammerquest.fwarhammerquestonline.t95

Here is a link to the first game I have reconstructed Also my very first GMed game in Webquest (my favorite one):

Any who have been in my games in Webquest may join this message board with "Warrior" status (remind me and I will issue the title manually), skipping the "New Guy" title. There are several titles in all, but I will let you discover them as you continue to be active in this message board.

Looks good OW, I'll be glad to tag along.

In recent lights could it be that we may still continue the game the old way?

Re: Webquest Gone?

The old way would certainly be preferrable, but I await to hear from Bruno as to whether he might reconsider.

Also, I haven't the memory for all the warriors and games that were lost, though my memory is fairly decent. It just so happened that my first and favorite GMed game (#90) was at a transition point between part one and part two of the campaign and the lady warriors were all ready to level up if they so desired -- at the time that Webquest was shut down.

Any players that would like to continue, I think I can manage a few games (maybe more once we get the hang of the new system). Please give me your input on which games you would like to continue and which games you would be willing to join if other players do not continue.

Maybe we can start a new game or two once we have at least three players -- I could play one of the warriors in this system. emoticon

Webquest Webmaster

I thought I would mention here that I read somewhere else that the webmaster of the former Webquest and the former Museum is supposed to be on holiday for the whole month of August.

This may explain why no one has heard any more comments from him regarding the big shutdown.

I still hold out hope that those two websites might be revived with proper changes made to them.

Re: Webquest Gone?

I will say what Bruno told me by email. He is going to work on seeing what he can do about restoring the Museum in a manner that is acceptible with Games Workshop. That is his priority, because he wants it to be a gesture of goodwill. After that, maybe he will see about redoing Webquest in an acceptible manner -- whatever that would be.

I think also that the Museum was used by many more people than Webquest. Also, the communications from GW were in reference to the Museum -- both before as regards some sort of permission (from one within GW but who is now deceased) about posting "some" of the official stuff, and indirectly, and more recently, about the website being in violation of copyrights.

I would think that Bruno has a lot of work to do to resurrect the Museum -- depending of course upon how much changing he would need to do. I would also think that he would need to do even more work to rewrite much of the code that made Webquest work so well.
